Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) archival and current data available for download

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Census Bureau's Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) data are compiled from the Longitudinal Business Database (Jarmin and Miranda 2002). The LBD is a longitudinal database of business establishments and firms covering the years since 1976, and is updated on a regular basis. As additional years of the LBD are available the BDS is also updated. For more details, consult the Center for Economic Studies or the local copy of the BDS Technical Note.

Similar in spirit to the Census Bureau's LODES and QWI data, we are now making available archival copies of these data. In general, the most current version will be available on the Census Bureau's site, but can also be downloaded from the VirtualRDC, at http://www.vrdc.cornell.edu/bds/.

On the SSG and SDS resources, the most current data are available in SAS and Stata format in /data/clean/bds.
