NSF-Census-IRS Workshop on Synthetic Data and Confidentiality Protection

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A workshop that will bring together university-based researchers, members of the international official statistical community, and other interested user communities is planned for July 31, 2009, the Friday before the 2009 Joint Statistical Meetings in Washington DC. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss and critique newly created public-use micro-data files that are based on the concepts of "synthetic data" and "partially synthetic data."  The workshop will be held at the Census Bureau's Headquarters in Suitland, MD.
The workshop will be comprised of three sessions for in-depth presentations, and a tutorial. Many of the U.S. and international researchers associated with the research funded by NSF Grant #0427889, "Info Tech Challenges for Secure Access to Confidential Social Science Data" (John Abowd, Gary Benedetto, Rob Creecy, Jörg Drechsler, Saki Kinney, Martha Stinson, Jerry Reiter, Arnold Reznek, Lars Vilhuber, Simon Woodcock) as well as members of different statistical communities (Stefan Bender, Nick Greenia, Ron Jarmin, Karen Masken) have already confirmed their participation.

More information, including details for participant registration and a preliminary program, can be found at  http://www.vrdc.cornell.edu/news/nsf-census-irs-workshop2009/.
