While these instructions have been tested on a variety of laptops and comptuers, not all configurations have been observed. Please send us information about successful installations (stating platform and other circumstances) to ecco-help@cac.cornell.edu.
Choosing versions
The description below describes how to install the Nomachine (or "NX") v5 client. Users should NOT install the Nomachine v6 client.
Download the free enterprise client
Do NOT download clients from the Nomachine page. They will not work! Please use the download links on this page.
Install it. Disable the auto-update functionality.
Download the pre-configured configuration
Now download the desired pre-configured config file for SDSx Desktops and unpack the ZIP file into the NX config location (you can find this in the NX5 configuration as "Connections" directory)
- $HOME/.nx/config (Linux) or $HOME/Documents/NoMachine/
- /Users/[user_name]/Documents/
NoMachine/ (Mac) - Documents/NoMachine/ (Windows 7, 8, 10)
(You may need to enable "view hidden files option" for your operating system). You can configure this to be in a different directory if you wish, by modifying the NX5 settings.
Connecting with the NX client
The session installed as noted above should now show up in the initial NX window:

Customization options
The NX client has several options that can be set once a session is active. To find them, use the "peel" menu in the top-right corner (default location) and click on it:
